Turns Son-in-Law's Business into Franchised Business of the Year

Originally from Colombia, Hebert Ospina, owner of Hebert Enterprises Corp., never thought he’d leave his home country. He enjoyed life as a sales manager for a textile company and had most of his family nearby, including his daughter, a teacher for the local school system. Life was good.

In Miami, 1,500 miles away, Ospina’s son-in-law was thinking the same thing. He had been in the United States for some time and had started his own franchised business with Coverall in 2001. For more than a decade, Ospina’s son-in-law operated his South Florida based Franchised Business, all the while maintaining his goal of retiring and moving home to Colombia. He kept in touch with his father-in-law often to discuss family and life as a business owner in the United States.

As years passed, Ospina learned more and more about owning a Coverall Franchised Business. The freedom and flexibility of being an independent business owner, and the chance to create a legacy for his family, appealed to him (even though he was approaching retirement from his sales career). It would be nice, but at this point, unlikely. Then, the phone rang. It was his son-in-law calling to announce his retirement and return to Colombia – and to ask Ospina a very important question.

“My son-in-law asked if I’d take over his business in South Florida,” said Ospina. “I wasn’t sure what to say at first, but the chance to own my own business was a dream come true.”

In 2013, Hebert Ospina, his daughter and granddaughter moved to the United States to take over his son-in-law’s business. “I wanted to start my own business, so that I could create something for the future of my family,” said Ospina. “Coverall gave me the opportunity to do that, and I’m forever grateful.”

Three years later, he has grown his business at his own pace with a careful focus on delivering high-quality service and increasing customer satisfaction. He knows each of his customers by name, and they know him well. Ospina understands the importance of face-to-face contact in building relationships with customers and the Support Center team, because of his lengthy career in sales.

In 2015, Hebert Enterprises Corp. was named Coverall Franchised Business of the Year.

When Ospina isn't providing service to his South Florida customers, he and his family spend as much time together as possible and also volunteer at St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Miami. As for Columbia, Ospina visits when he can, but with his family and his business in South Florida, there's no place like home.
