Franchising Creates Opportunities for Minority Entrepreneurs

February is Black History Month and Coverall is proud to celebrate its history of supporting its minority franchised commercial cleaning business owners’ journey to ownership.

The composition of Coverall’s franchised business owners reflects a growing trend in the U.S toward diversity. According to the U.S. Census Bureau projection, by 2045 the majority of the United States will be non-white. Coverall already has a large minority base of independent owners and the company expects those numbers to increase as a result of their proactive efforts to engage different audiences.

Among its independent business owners who are benefiting from running their own company are Jeffrey and Carmela Richardson, owners of JACAR Janitorial, LLC out of Detroit. The couple has worked tirelessly to grow since starting their franchise in 2017. The Richardson’s story is one of faith, community and perseverance.

Business Ownership Opportunities can Create Generational Change

“We’ve been married for 33 years,” said Jeffrey. “My wife believed in me through my calling, which is to pastor. It’s what I love to do, but it has not always been able to financially support us in the way that we expected to be supported.”

Starting a Coverall franchise enabled Jeffrey to remain a pastor while helping to build a financial future for his family. Richardson has shared his success with his community by employing parishioners.

“The way that this franchise has grown in two years, in eight more years if it’s growing at the rate that is going now, I see myself employing many people. And my wife and I would not be working like we are working today, but still be business owners and able to know that we have a legacy for our children and grandchildren,” he added.

Coverall supports more than 8,000 owners, which represent a diverse group of independent franchised business owners, who can take advantage of Coverall’s comprehensive training, guidance and new business potential in order to help further their economic and personal development.
