How to Select a Commercial Cleaning Franchise That’s Right for You

If your dream is to own a commercial cleaning franchise business, and you’ve decided now is the time to go for it, good for you! Once you know that the in-demand commercial cleaning industry is the place for you, the only decision left is to choose the franchisor that will give you the experience you’re seeking.

There are quite a few commercial cleaning franchisors out there. Finding the right one you can count on may feel overwhelming. Here are seven pieces of advice on where to start your search and how to select the right franchise brand for your business.

1. Turn to Trustworthy Small Business Resources

There are some great resources available to provide you with information and answer many of your questions about everything from finding financing to registering your business. Start with resources like the International Franchise Association or the Small Business Administration.

Also, do some internet research on the benefits of owning a commercial cleaning franchise, and explore previous posts on this blog.

2. Choose an Established Brand

Above all, choose a franchise that has grown in communities and is backed by a good support network. Make sure it has been established for many years and is well-known and respected in the franchise community. Not only will you feel more secure in their longevity and stability, but when you go out seeking customers, a well-known name can help you get in the door and convey trustworthiness.

3. Having a Local Office is Helpful

It’s a good idea to find a company that has a local presence near where you live. That way, you can get ongoing support and build a strong relationship with the company.

4. Talk to Other Franchisees in the System

Review the franchisor’s franchise disclosure document, visit their website and speak to as many franchisees as you can.

5. Learn What to Expect from Working with Them

You will want to learn as much as you can about the franchise you’re considering. Find out what kinds of industries their owners typically service, whether it’s office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, or other kinds of workplaces.

6. Ask About Training

Some commercial cleaning franchises require you to have experience, while others will train you on both cleaning and business practices. Learn what kind of training resources they offer to prepare you to knowledgably serve all of these kinds of customers. Make sure their training covers hospital grade and CDC-recommended protocols, as these are in high demand from customers.

7. Make Sure They Fit Your Budget

Estimate the budget you will need for startup costs and supplies, and make sure the franchise you’re considering can fit your budget. Check to see what kinds of financing the franchise can offer you. If you’re a veteran, ask whether they offer a discount for military veterans.
